Several years ago the world wide web came to life, and I wanted to be a part of it. I watched in the 90's as dot coms came and went, I watched start up comapnies make billions and with in a year go belly up,while others strugled and then took off.
I wanted something that would not be a fly by nite deal, low investment, and maybe a small return.
Fastforward to 2 plus years ago and I got pissed off over a web site that would not let me sell a bird that I had that needed a special home. I came up with 2nhandpets.com, My friend Chris M came into town and said , I know how to do web programming and I let him take off with it. We launched the site on December 23 2007, a free to advertise site made just for pets and their needs. Today with ZEROE advertisment we get 4,000 plus actual hits a month. Durring the development stage of 2ndhandpets.com I started searching for dating site names, legalteendate.com was available, and then playfantasies.com, next thelastlegalhigh.com, then bikerlust.com, and then trashdate.com.
Each name holds a special value to it, legalteendate being directed at teens 18 plus that are now legal to advertise on the world wide web for dating. Trashdate.com was for the perfect people that were thrown to the trashcan by their prior lover, nothing wrong with them infact for the most part they are gold and diamonds that are in the trash and need to be found by another special person.
I found software that I could use, and a hosting agent that suited my needs. I put it all togeather and ran some test runs on the site. Pretty easy to use.
My next step was trying to find a price to charge on month to month or yearly. Then Chris said , my father told me the best way to make a million dollors was to find a way to make $1.00 and then multiply what you did to make that buck a million times.
Bamm!,,, Charge $1.99 for Gold membership and $3.99 for Platinum membership for 1 year. That part was put into play, now how do we market it and how do we get the first 500 members onto the site.
Step 1, run a special, Platinum membership for FREE FOR LIFE to the FIRST 500 members.
Ok So we got to that part and the banner ad is set on the main page. NOW WHAT!
Next Step is to do a Mini Test Marketing Campain. Start It Off On A Tuesday "Next Week" and run it through October 1 2008. THis will be the test to see if what we have is something worth my time to mass market and put more money into.
Tashdate.com will be just another dot com unless I am able to market the site to the proper crowd world wide.
If I get ritch, I will be very happy, get ritch quick , I dont think so!
I am looking at this as a 2 year time frame and atleast 6 months before any money of any kind comes in from the site.
are we like the harmmy site or orther love site , I truly do not think so. I am not offering fluffy foo foo stuff on my site, you get to see the people that you want to see, you get to pay a very low yearly rate, and best of all you get a full 1 year membership for a whopping $3.99. I alone spend $3.99 every time I go to get a espresso in the morning on my way to work. Yep I am not out to brake the bank of my potentialcustomers.
